Rule 2 - Make sure your foraging is done in an area free from pesticides, dog or cat piss, or even human! No one wants to eat a foraged meal that stinks. Learn what birch bark can be used for @stunt dummy ;)

First rule - Be a safe forager, be 100% sure on identification, research and research prior to heading out for a forage. Start with the basics, the more well known and work up from there. There are some really good books, I have a lot of books. I will make a list and put it on here.
