Dead Drops are an anonymous, offline, peer to peer file-sharing network using public spaces, and they were invented by Aram Bartholl as a NRC art project in 2010. USB thumb drives are embedded into walls, buildings and curbs which are accessible to anybody in public spaces. Everyone is invited to drop or find files on a dead drop. Plug your laptop to a wall, house or pole to share your important files and/or data.
Dead Drops are fun, legal and open to participation from anyone with a few dollars to spare. If you want to install a dead drop in your area, watch this video, install one, then submit the location and pictures to be shared across our platforms.
Don't forget that Apple Air Drops can also be used to share information, but they're not nearly as much fun as the original method.
